SIBU: Four brothers were arrested after police recovered 12 vehicles believed to be stolen properties hidden in an oil palm plantation in Pasai Siong where the brothers worked.

The arrest was made during a surprise raid led by ASP Tega Bilong which started at 5.30pm on Monday.

It took the raiding team seven hours up to around midnight to comb through the plantation before eventually spotting the 12 vehicles — five cars, three lorries, two 4WD vehicles and two motorcycles.

JASIN: Fifty-nine foreigners including eight women, employed as construction workers were detained in a 6P Phase Two integrated operation at a construction site in Mukim Ayer Panas, here yesterday.

Melaka Immigration Acting Director Abu Bakar Sidek Hasan said these included 25 Indonesian men and eight women, 23 Myanmar men and three Bangladeshis, all between the ages of 18 and 55 years.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department deputy director of operations, Mohd Sani Harul said the foreigners were said to have jumped from the partly destroyed building.

"All of them were reportedly staying in a hostel in the building when the fire broke out at 12.46am," he said when contacted, here today.
