KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) has appealed to the Government to defer plans to double the levy on foreign workers employed at factories.

“The increased levy is double jeopardy for us,’’ president Datuk Mustafa Mansur said yesterday.

FMM Still Awaiting Response On Double Levy From Government PDF Print E-mail

PETALING JAYA, March 30 (Bernama) -- The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) is still awaiting a response from the government on its request to defer the implementation of a double levy on foreign workers as announced in the recent mini-budget.

Its president, Datuk Mustafa Mansur said the implementation of the double levy would also put manufacturers in jeopardy.

Issue Of Increase In Levy To Be Brought To Cabinet PDF Print E-mail

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama) -- Human Resource Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam will bring up to the Cabinet the issue of increase in levy on foreign workers faced by employers.

However, he said, the proposal to increase the levy did not come from his ministry, adding that the government had no intention of disrupting or forcing the closure of employers' operations by hiking the levy.
