JAKARTA, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian government is taking steps to ensure only documented workers are sent abroad, an official said.
The steps included easing the issuance of permits and documents for the workers, Foreign ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said. |

KUALA LUMPUR: Inconsistent enforcement of laws is hampering the control of foreign workers entering the country, says the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) executive director Shamsuddin Bardan.
Malaysia is known to be lenient on foreign workers, he said, as it gives amnesty to those who are in the country illegally. "In return for such kindness, the agents who bring in foreign workers are taking their chances to go against the law," he added. |

No pardon for ‘missing’ tourists |

PETALING JAYA: Illegal foreign workers — including those who went “missing” after their tourist visas expired — will not be legalised or given amnesty, said Immigration director-general Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman.
“The Home Ministry has mentioned this before — there will be no amnesty or voluntary repatriation.
“Those who overstay will have to go through the process of law,” he said. |

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC Youth has asked the Government to come out with a clemency programme to register the missing foreigners working illegally in the country. Youth chief T. Mohan said the Government could legalise them and allow them to be employed by local companies in need of workers. |
